Akonadi/Civic Design - 2019 Racial Justice Poster Project
Over 200 students across 2 OUSD High Schools participated in Akonadi Foundation and Civic Design’s Youth Racial Justice Poster Project.
Winners were showcased at Museum of Children’s Art during an OUSD Arts and Media Student Expo, attended by over 1000 people. They will also be featured in public displays in Old Oakland at the end of summer 2019.
Civic and Akonadi worked together to create a workshop curriculum for teachers that gave history and context to the project. From over 200 submissions, students self-selected 16 finalists to represent their high schools.
Thanks to teachers Rachel Kantor and Robert Smith, as well as Renee Geesler from Akonadi Foundation. Also thanks to CTE Coordinator Daniel Spinka and MOCHA director Nina Woodruff-Walker.
